what is glTF?

glTF [noun]: short for the GL Transmission Format, glTF is an open source, standard file format for 3D scenes and models

The glTF file format has become the standard format for three dimensional models and scenes, and a key component to the quickly expanding creation and application of augmented reality. Created by Khronos Group, glTF supports model geometry, appearance, scene graph hierarchy, and animation.

Companies currently using glTF include Google, Adobe, Microsoft, and Facebook, with Autodesk being a primary integrator for use in developing augmented reality experiences.
